Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in Teague for Maggie Black, 98, of Teague who died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Harris Methodist Mexia Hospital.
Mrs. Black was born March 14, 1891, at Buffalo, lived in Freestone county all her life and lived in Teague since 1951. She was a retired school teacher and rancher, member of the Methodist church, taught Sunday school for 75 years and was a member of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Black was married to Benjamin Blain Black, who died in 1951. Services ,were' conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church· with the Rev. Lester Ruth, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial was at Dew Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John B.Black, Laurin Black, Jr., Mercer Black, Steve Gilliam; Chuck Gilliam, Kevin Black and Jim Boseman: Honorary pallbearers were Astil Lancaster, Carl Smith, Travis Webb, J.W. Gregson, Anna Gray Bray and Ruel Wilson.

Mrs. Black is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Laurin and Dorothy Black of Pasadena; a son in-law, Emory Partin of Teague; a daughter-in-law, Ora Lee Black of Teague; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 15 great great-grandchildren.
