Rites Wednesday For Ben Evers ST. ELIZABETH (Special)?
Funeral services for Bernard (Ben) Evers, 84, a retired blacksmith, are scheduled at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St Lawrence Catholic Church with the Rev. H. J. Figge officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today, at a St Elizabeth funeral home. Evers apparently died of injuries Monday after a fire broke out at his home. Dr. Stanley Humphrey, Miller County coroner, said that Evers apparently attempted to light a wood stove when the fire started. Born on March 24, 1380, near St Elizabeth, he was the son of Frank and Anna Bax Evers, and married Mary Luebbert. Survivors include his wife of St Elizabeth; a son, Anthony Evers, University City: a daughter, Mrs. Marie Kliethermes, St Elizabeth; two brothers, George Evers, St Charles: Herman Evers, Atlantic City, N.J.; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Ortballs, Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Anna Cuno, Jefferson City; and five grandchildren.
