WHITEVILLE--Virginia Powell Caroline Fletcher, 93 died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late John Olan Powell and Mariah Young Powell and was preceded in death by her husband, Kendall Leo Fletcher; 5 brothers, Wishard Powell, Dan Powell, Curtis Powell, John M. Powell and John O. Powell; daughter-in-law, Nancy S. Fletcher.

Mrs. Fletcher was the oldest living member of Hallsboro Methodist Church and was the operator of the Madison Hill Apartments for 28 years.

Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2010 at McKenzie Mortuary chapel with Rev. Clayton Rivenbark, Jr officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery along Honey Hill Road. Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 12 from 6-8 at the funeral.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by a son, Kendall P. Fletcher and wife, Vicky of Hallsboro; daughter, Diane F. Smith and husband Kenneth L., of Hallsboro; 2 sisters, Mary McGirt of Hallsboro and Helen Wilson of Whiteville; 6 granddaughters, 7 great grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters; 4 great-grandsons; special friend, Izzie Todd.
