He was born July 18, 1916, in Craigsville, Virginia, son of the late Arthur and Ruby Beverly Sprouse. Calvin was married to Alice V. Carpenter Sprouse and she survives him. He was a U.S. Army, World War II, Veteran, a member of the VFW and the Royal Oak Campground. He retired after working for 43 years as a coal miner.
Surviving are his wife, Alice V. Sprouse of Bidwell; three children, Ann (Hobart) Daniels of Centerville, Betty Pence of South Carolina and Randy (Debbie Merrell) Sprouse of Centerville; six grandchildren, Troy Daniels, Pam King, Toni Althouse, Michelle Jarrell, Randy A. Sprouse and Tabatha Jones; 13 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Calvin Andrew Sprouse and Frankie Sprouse.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2011, at Adamsville Cemetery, Mason County, W.Va., with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. at the Willis Funeral Home on Thursday, January 13, 2011.
