Sophia Naomi Collins, was born the daughter of John Collins and his wife Martha Amelia Blanford, in Simcoe, Ont. Canada. On May 31, 1875 she married John Absalom McBride. They were the parents of 3 children: Edith Ann, who married Archie Elias Culver of Simcoe.; John Edmund, who married Ethel Nella Terrill of Mason, Michigan. and Ethel Eliza who died in Michigan in 1909 single.
In 1900 the family moved to Mason, Michigan. Leaving daughter Edith and her husband behind. In 1907 Sophia died in Mason, Michigan and her body was returne to Simcoe for burial. As was her daughter Ethel Eliza in 1909 and husband John in 1912 all are buried at Oakwood
