Biography
Dorothy L. Smith, 70, of Streator, died at 8 p.m. Thursday January 6, 2011 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Streator.

Funeral services for Dorothy Smith will be at 11 a.m. Monday January 10, 2011 at the Elias Funeral Home in Streator. Pastor Bryce Hays of the First United Methodist Church will officiate and also conduct graveside services at Allen Cemetery in Ransom, IL. Serving as pallbearers will be members of her family and friends. Visitation will be from 9 - 11 a.m. Monday at the Elias Funeral Home.

Born April 10, 1939 in Streator, IL, she was the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Schneider) Weers. She married Howard D. Smith on September 18, 1960, he died November 20, 2005.

She is survived by a daughter Pam Sherman of Streator, son Randy (Carol) Smith of Streator, grandchildren Jeremy Sherman, Brian Sherman, Ryan Zeedyk and Alicia Zeedyk. Also surviving are brothers Virgil (Mary) Weers of Flanagan, IL, Elmer (Linda) Weers of Tuscon, AZ, Robert (Brenda) Weers of Rockford, IL, sisters Eva (Myron) Schoone of Roanoke, IL, Betty (Rolland) Clevenger of Lake Wildwood, IL, Carolyn (Harry) Dent of Streator, Marilyn (Leonard) Staples of Tuscon, AZ and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by brothers Donald, Raymond and Frederick Weers and a sister Lillian Dorff,

Dorothy worked at Busters and Chippers Restaurants in Streator retiring from Chippers in 2001. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Streator.
