. Rowen W. Aldrich 88, of 1380 N. Seminary St. Galesburg, IL, died at 11:55 PM Sunday December 23, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on September 13, 1913 in Galesburg to Julian Karl and Isal (Idian) Aldrich. He married Ruth L. Young in Little Rock AR on April 4, 1942. She preceded him in death on July 22, 1995.
He is survived by a son, David Aldrich of Galesburg, IL and two brothers, Larry Aldrich of Galesburg, IL and Karl Aldrich, Jr. of Springfield, IL.
He taught in Galesburg Community School District #205 for 43 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Galesburg High School in 1932, of Knox College in 1936 and of the University of Illinois in 1946. He served in the Army during World War II. A retired Lt. Colonel, he belonged to the Reserve Office Association. He also was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Ducks Unlimited, Inc. He contributed duck hunting articles to magazines such as "Field and Stream" and "Fins and Feathers."
Private graveside memorial services will be Friday December 28, 2001 at Knoxville (IL) Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Memorials may be made to National Wildlife Foundation.
