David Vance, a pioneer of Jay County, died Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock at his
late home, five miles northwest of this city. A short time ago he suffered a stroke of
paralysis from which he never recovered. The deceased was eighty-nine years of age on
the nineteenth of last April and has been a resident of this county for the past fifty
years. His wife survives him. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at
three o'clock at No. 1 school house in Greene Township, conducted by Rev. F.
Stovenour. Interment in the Whicker Cemetery.
