Norman E. Aker, 63, 1809 N. Ault Ave., died Saturday in Ball Memorial Hospital. A native of Orange County, he had been a Muncie resident most of his life. Mr. Aker retired in 1987 from Muncie Bread Co., after 21 years there. Earlier he was an employee of Glasco for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; a son, David Aker, Temple, Texas; a daughter, Marilyn (Mrs. Robert) Strong, Muncie; a stepbrother, Charles Christie, Muncie; a sister, Virgie Hampton, Palm Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Marvin Aker (1930-1977), and sisters, Doris Cook (1925-1979), Virgie Hampton (1928-1999) are deceased.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel, with Rev. Richard Veach officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Family will receive callers 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
