BAXTER – Funeral services for Gladys Willene Maxwell, 68, of Baxter will be held Wednesday, June 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Maxwell died Monday, June 16, 1997, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
A native of Nashville, she was born September 16, 1928, to the late Harrison P. and Flora Chaffin Allen.
She was a retired nurse from Cookeville General Hospital and a member of the Church of Christ in Baxter.
Her family includes two sons and daughtersinlaw, Jackie D. and Janet Maxwell of Silver Point and Billy and Freda Maxwell of Baxter; one brother, Bob Allen of Little Rock, AR; two sisters, Margie Shanks of Baxter; four grandchildren, Trent, Jeremy and Jennifer Maxwell and Holly Chaffin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Maxwell; three brothers, Johnny, Fred and Carmen Allen; and two sisters, Bonnie Martin and Jean Maxwell.
