Mom passed away peacefully with family by her bedside at Bennion Care Center on January 7, 2011.

She was born to Hazel Tryon and Daniel Black on January 17, 1931. Mom was a compassionate and caring person, always concerned about the other person before herself. She showed her compassion in many ways such as, caring for her mother and others over the course of her life. Family was everything to mom, especially her grandkids. Mom went through the Jordan River Temple on July 19, 2008 which was a life-time dream of hers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother, Karl (Nancy) Black; daughters, Cheryl (John) Jeffers and Rosa (David) Gessell; nine grandchildren, John (Carly), Kristy (Mark), Tyler (Jessica), Colby, Trever (Caitlin), Adam, Brandie, Lindsay, and Angie; twelve great-grandchildren with two on the way; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lewis Jones.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West). A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
