My father was the owner of the service station and garage located on 6th street next to Klebreg Elementary School. It was originally a junk yard owned by a Villarreal from Falfurrias. In 1941 my dad and his brother, Tío Beto, bought the location in 1941 and converted it to a service station. For 10 years they also had diesel trucks for rent known as the big "D". After this my uncle left the partnership and dad managed and worked as an auto mechanic during the day and airplane mechanic at the Corpus Christi naval base for about 30 year.
