Mr. Kerby was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Augusta County, a son of the late John C. and Ada Kennedy Kerby.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
He was a professional clown by trade and was known as "Geneo" the clown. He built his own carnival rides, originated Eastside Speedway, and was an avid bird watcher.
Mr. Kerby had previously worked for Klann Organ and Barrol Pen.
Mr. Kerby was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae Kerby; one sister, Doris Wyatt; and two brothers, Claude Kerby and Charles Kerby.
Survivors include one brother, Guy S. Kerby and his wife, Edith, of Waynesboro; two sisters, Vera Coiner and her husband, Robbin, of Dooms and Elsie Thompson of Waynesboro; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends, Violet Simmons, Dorothy Callison and Betty Baber.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Waynesboro chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by the Rev. James Pence. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews attending the service.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
