Claude Elwood Kerby, 54, of 325 Winchester Ave., died at University of Virginia Hospital Sunday evening.
He was born in Augusta County on May 21, 1915, a son of John Claude and Ada Kennedy Kerby. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was a mechanic for Skyline Industries.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eagle M. Kerby of Waynesboro; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Belle Coffey and Mrs. James (Aubrey) Roberts, both of Waynesboro; two sons, Lyle K. Kerby and James D. Kerby, both of Waynesboro; three sisters, Mrs. Robbin (Vera) Coiner and Mrs. Carl (Elsie) Thompson, both of Waynesboro, and Mrs. Hershal (Doris) Wyatt of Weaversville, N. C.; three brothers, Eugene R. Kerby, Guy S. Kerby, and Clarence L. Kerby, all of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at McDow-Tyree Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday conducted by the Rev. Robert Ponchot. Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be George King, Elbert Dawson, Willie Baylor, Hawty Henderson, James Farris, and John N. Drumheller.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at McDow-Tyree Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Tuesday night.
