John Tipton, Jr., was a militia colonel in Tennessee, and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Tennessee 1807-1809. He served seven terms in the Tennessee House and one in the Senate. Born 21 April 1767 in Shenandoah Co., VA, he died 8 October 1831 in Nashville, Davidson Co., TN. He was the son of Col. John Tipton.
He was buried in Lot 73, SE Section 28, Old City Cemetery, Nashville, with a monument authorized and erected by the 49th General Assembly of Tennessee.
