Mary (Butler) Tipton was the wife of Col. John Tipton. They were married in 1751 @ Cedar Creek, Shenandoah County, Royal Colony of Virginia. The date of her death is presently unknown. She is reported to be buried beside her husband John in the Tipton Cemetery in Washington County, Tennessee. Time and weather have destroyed the markings on their "field stone markers".
