--Mrs. Gloria Darby Sharpe, 61, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at her residence.
--A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Interment followed in Chester Memorial Gardens.
--Mrs. Sharpe was born April 22, 1948, in Chester, a daughter of Clyde Walters and the late Dorothy Carpenter Walters. She was a graduate of Chester High School and was formerly employed with Springs Industries. She was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church.
--Surviving are her father, Clyde Walters of Chester; her husband, Felder Richard Sharpe; one daughter, Kim Beam and her husband, Mike, of Chester; five grandchildren, Andy Hall and his fiancé, Jessie Cudd, Rikki Burch, Kevin Hall, Brooke Burch and Jessica Beam; one great-grandchild, Kayleigh Burch; two brothers, Terry Darby of Chester and Gene Darby of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a son-in-law, Randy Hall of Chester.
--She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Hall; her mother, Dorothy Walters; and a brother, Butch Walters.
--A heartfelt thanks goes out to Hospice Care of S.C. and Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Philadelphia Branch.
--In leiu of flowers, donations may be made to Hawthorne Christian Academy, 790 Hawthorne Road, Chester, SC 29706.
