COTTONWOOD — Funeral services for Susie Hosteen Lee, 81, will be 10 a.m., Dec. 4, at Grace Fellowship Church, Chinle. Burial will be in Black Mountain Cemetery, Cottonwood.

Lee died Nov. 29, 2010, in Cottonwood. She was born on Dec. 12, 1929, in Tselani Springs, Ariz., into the Charcoal Streaked Division of the Red Running Into the Water People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.

Lee taught those around her to be self-sufficient, responsible and respectful. She invested her time and affection in her family, community and the rugs she weaved. She was a board member for Chinle Valley School Board, Chinle Health Board, Cottonwood Day School, Tselani-Cottonwood Community Development Committee, Tselani-Cottonwood Senior Center, Tselani Methodist, a dorm aide at local BIA schools and a foster parent.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Lee; brother, Ray Hosteen Sr.; children, Roselyn Beck, Linda Curley, Wallace Tsosie, Elouise Begay, Bertha Yazzie, Dale E. Tsosie, Julia Tsosie, Shirlene Jones, Marletha Harvey, Tommy Dale Tsosie; 35 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Tse'iahi and Bessie Begay; brothers, Oliver Thompson, Mark Thomas, Leuis Hosteen, Amos Hosteen, Denny Hosteen; sisters, Helen Salabye, Isabelle Charley; children, Elsie, Dennison, Johnson Tsosie.

Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
