In 1950, Chimayó, Santa Fe County, New Mexico; Nestor Chávez Jr. was enumerated with his parents Nestor & Emelinda Chávez and siblings: Leo and Marcela Chávez (1950 Census).

Nestor, a resident of Chimayó, passed away at the Bernalillo County Medical Center in Albuquerque.

Nestor was survived by his parents Nestor and Ermelinda Chávez of Chimayo; daughter Cindy Mae Chávez of Santa Fe; brothers: Frank of the home and David (wife Sally) of Chimayó; 4 sisters: Martha Martinez of Albuquerque, Roselin Martinez, Patsy Martinez, and Annabelle Coriz of Chimayó; paternal grandmother Victoria Chávez; maternal grandparents Ramon and Pablita Jaramillo, all of Chimayó; and nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and many other relatives.

A Rosary was recited at Block-Salazar Mortuary and at the Holy Family Church in Chimayó. Funeral services were at the Holy Family Church. Burial followed in El Potrero de Chimayó Catholic Cemetery.
