Ermelinda, a resident of Chimayo, was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Nestor Chavez; parents Ramon and Pablita Jaramillo; 3 sons: Nestor Jr., Leo and Frankie Chavez; daughter Patsy Martinez; 6 grandchildren: Glen, Leo, Medardo Jr., Alvin and Renee Martinez, Ricky Torrez; great-grandson Jeremy Coriz; brothers: Floyd and Tony Jaramillo; and sister Lorenzita Baca.
Ermelinda was survived by 3 daughters: Martha Aragon, Rosalie Martinez (husband Melecio), Annabelle Coriz (husband Frank); son David Chavez (wife Sally); 3 sisters: Emma Trujillo, Soraida Vigil (husband Tiny), Cleo Avila (husband Joe); 2 brothers: Samuel Jaramillo (wife Rose) and Efren Jaramillo (wife Betty); 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and numerous relatives, friends and godchildren.
Ermelinda was well known for her cooking and always greeted her friends with a good meal. Ermelinda enjoyed camping, dancing, going on vacation and always looked forward to having friends and family over for Good Friday and Christmas.
Burial was in El Potrero de Chimayo Holy Family Parish Cemetery. Pallbearers: Alex Coriz, Kevin Coriz, Eric Coriz, Tony Martinez, Cindy Chavez, Leo Martinez, Adrian Chavez, and Melvin Martinez.
