Julian "Peck" Carter, 71, died Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.

He was born in Chatham County and was a machinist and a US. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Edith Carter of Savannah, one son, William Lloyd Carter of Savannah; three daughters, Cathy Guest, Judy Harley, Beth Carter, all of Savannah; one sister, Ruth Stokes of Savannah; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 3:30 pm Tuesday at Massey Chapel Funeral Home, burial in Elkens Cemetery on Hwy. 204.
