July 10, 1834, Buncombe County, North Carolina, married, Gehazia (Hays) Ransom Ball. They were the parents of 14 children.
In 1857, Gehazi and Mary Buckner Ball, left Buncombe County and went to Knoxville, Tennessee, then traveled on to Evening Shade, Arkansas. About 1860, they moved to Moody, Missouri. During the Civil War, Mary, their daughter Velda Ball Hatfield, and two younger children went to Rolla, Missouri Refugee Camp that was operated by the United States Government. Mary Buckner Ball died in early 1863 and Velda and the younger children had died by April 1863, all victims of the measles out break.
The note up above says no record their being buried here, probably no tombstone, no family living in area, moved from North Carolina.
