He was born near Duffield and came to Waynesboro about 32 years ago. he was the son of the late Samuel B. and Anna (Sheller) Kauffman.
He learned his trade, machine and tool maker, at the Geiser Plant, was later employed at the Landis Machine Company and Frick Company. Prior to his death he was general foreman at the Erd Company and worked there until taken ill.
Mr. Kauffman was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
He is survived by the following: his wife, Margaret (Shearer) Kauffman; son, Rudolph Kauffman, Waynesboro; daughters, Mrs. L. B. Flory, Waynesboro Route 4, Miss Margaret Kauffman and Mrs. Ralph Baker, both of Waynesboro; a brother, S. S. Kauffman; two sisters, Miss Lillie Kauffman and Mrs. Clarence E. Dick, all of Waynesboro and six grandchildren.
