Ida Elizabeth Goodwin was the daughter of J. W. & Sarah E. Goodwin. J. W. Goodwin was born in Arkansas according to the 1880 Texas Census, Dallas Co., Dallas. He was found dead floating in the Trinity River in Dallas on June 30, 1884. Foul play was suspected because his legs were tied together & his neck was broken as though he had been hanged. (Info per newspaper article). He was separated from his wife at the time. He was not a doctor nor was he born in Scotland as shown on his daughter Ida's death certificate. J. W. Goodwin's wife Sarah later remarried to a Mr. Koeny. She was a widow on the 1900 Texas Census & living with her daughter Ida Blessing.

Ida Elizabeth Goodwin was born in 1876 in Dallas Co., Texas. Her headstone & death certificate incorrectly show birth year as 1880. However, census years confirm the 1876 birth year.

Ida was married 3 times. Her first marriage was to Samuel Campbell Blessing in January 1895 in Dallas Co., Texas. They had 2 children, only 1 of whom survived past infancy, a son Samuel Campbell Blessing, Jr. Ida & Samuel Blessing divorced in January 1900 in Dallas.

Ida then married George Frederick Weiland about 1905 in Dallas Co., Texas. They appear on the 1910 Texas Census together with Ida's son Samuel Blessing. They divorced with no living children.

Ida's last marriage was to John Monroe Hodge about 1915 in Dallas Co., Texas. They had no children together.

Ida only had 1 child that lived to adulthood, Samuel Campbell Blessing, Jr. The 1910 census indicates that Ida had 6 children born to her. It also shows 2 children still living but this was an error since she only had 1 living child at that time.
