Alva (Fournier) Paquette, 92, of Holyoke, died peacefully on December 20, 2010 at Wingate in South Hadley. She was born in Chicopee on May 30, 1918 a daughter of the late David and Lillian (Legare) Fournier. Alva attended Chicopee schools and was a long time Holyoke resident. She was the manager of Goodwill Industries in Holyoke for many years until her retirement in 1989. She was predeceased by her husbands Rolland Paquette, Emile Dupre and Clifford Nickerson. Alva is survived by her daughters, Christine Kenney of Indian Orchard; Dorothy Bonner of Belchertown; and two sons Leroy Paquette and Leo Paquette both of MA. She was predeceased by her brothers Harold and David Fournier and a sister Eva Fournier. Eva leaves her sister in law and devoted caregiver Claire A. Goddu of Holyoke. She also leaves several cherished grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours for Alva will be held On Tuesday January 4, 2011 from 4 - 7 PM at the Messier Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., Holyoke. The funeral will begin at 8 AM on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 from the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 427 Maple St., Holyoke. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Rose Cemetery, South Hadley. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holyoke Hospice Life Care, 113 Hampden St., Holyoke, MA 01040.
