Requiem mass for Alvin John Eich, 60, of Carroll will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Augustine Church, Halbur, by the Rev. Victor Kollasch. Mr. Eich died about 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at home following a long illness.
Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Thursday. Rosaries Thursday night will be at 8 by the Holy Name Society of St. Augustine parish, and at 8:45 by Sacred Heart Council No. 1972, Knights of Columbus, of Templeton. On Friday the rosary will be recited at 3, 8 and 8:45 p.m. Interment will be in the parish cemetery at Halbur.
Mr. Eich had farmed near Halbur until moving to the present home at 318 Bluff Street on Jan. 8 of this year. He was born at Halbur Dec. 31, 1909, a son of Charles and Anna Reinart Eich. His marriage to Marie M. Krogman took place at Halbur Jan. 14, 1941, with the Rev. George Schumacher officiating. He was a member of St. Augustine Church and the Templeton Knights of Columbus.
Surviving with his wife are seven children: Wayne and Robert of Halbur; Jim, of Carroll; Sr. Mary Ann of Loyola University, Chicago; Carol, of St. Mary's Junior College, Minneapolis; Esther and John, both at home; and one grandchild, Faye Eich.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ray and Herbert Eich, both of Halbur; and seven sisters: Sr. Mary Ricarda, Waterloo; Mrs. Adolph (Evelyn) Langel, Templeton; Mrs. Leo (Luci) Irlmeier, Manning; Mrs. Helen Eischeid, Halbur; Mrs. John (Katherine) Loughran, Breda; Mrs. Jerry (Sally) Schenkelberg, Carroll; and Mrs. Lawrence (Mildred) Sporrer, Manning. Two sisters, Loretta and Ann, preceded him in death.
