Walter R. “Walt” Fidler, 71, of 9400 South 400 East, died unexpectedly September 17, in Home Hospital’s emergency room. He was born December 24, 1928, in Tippecanoe County. He lived in the Clarks Hill and Stockwell areas most of his life and graduated from Clarks Hill High School in 1947. He married Jewell Anderson in Clarks Hill, on May 22, 1948 and she survives. Mr. Fidler owned and operated Walt’s General Repair in the Clarks Hill and Stockwell areas for 25 years. He also drove for Indiana Motor Coach and Lafayette city buses. He was a member of Masonic Lodge N0. 492. Along with his wife, he is survived by two sons, Walter Lee “Dick” Fidler of West Point and Michael E. Fidler of Lafayette; a daughter, Mrs. Dave (Wanda) Colley of West Point; a sister, Mrs Francis (Rosemary) Grolo of Clarks Hill; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Dewey Fidler. Richards-Loy and Wheeler Funeral Home handled arrangements with the Rev. Steve Cain and John Nesbitt officiating. Interment Johnson Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
