A native of Hope, NJ, he moved to Biery's-Port in 1821. Mr Tombler conducted the old mill that stood on the site of the present Mauser & Cressman property, and for twenty-three years collected toll at Biery's Bridge. During the re-erection of the bridge, destroyed by the flood of 1841, Mr Tombler met with an accident which resulted in his death.
