LAST RITES HELD FOR
PIONEER J.H. HUMPHREY
John H. Humphrey passed away at his home Wednesday afternoon, December 16, 1942 after a short illness.
Mr. Humphrey has been a resident of Minco and Grady county for the past 24 years living on his farm ½ miles south of Minco. His wife Mrs. Rhoda Humphrey preceded him in death, September 9, 1933 since then he has lived with his son Otis in their home south of town.
Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Baptist church in Minco at 2:30 with the Rev. Wood of Union City conducting the services.
Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery with the Quayle Funeral home in charge of arrangement.
Obituary
John Harvey Humphrey was born June 10, 1856 in the state of Iowa and departed this life, December 16, 1942 at the age of 86 years 6 months and 6 days. He moved on the farm ½ miles south of Minco in the fall of 1918 where he made his home till death. He had been a member of the Church of Christ since early manhood; He was united in Marriage to Rhoda Loyd, August 6, 1881 in Putnam County, Missouri. She preceded him in death, September 9, 1933.
To this union was born six children, two of them preceded him in death. The four living are Otis and Will of Minco, Mrs. Mable Rogers of Soccorro, New Mexico and Mrs. Mary Baum of Tucumcari, N.M. and fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren
