Sgt. Phillip Evers served the Confederate Army in the 18th NC Regiment in Company B. He was born in 1831 in Bladen County, NC, the son of David and Mary Evers. He was the husband of Mary Jane Carroll and the father of Leander and Glendora Evers.

His cousins Dennis, Ephriam, & William H Evers also died at Elmira Prison.
