Lukfonak, Richard

Richard Lukofnak, age 78, passed away on October 8, 2004 at Villa Mesa Care Center in Upland. He was born on November, 17, 1925 in Bruck an der Mur, Austria, and grew up in Graz, Austria. He immigrated to the United States in 1955 with his wife and eldest son. He was a resident of Southern California for the past 49 years and was a resident of Rancho Cucamonga for the last year. Retired, he was an Architectural Metal Designer and Fabricator and owned his own business for many years. Richard was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Covina. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the German Navy Submarine Service. Richard enjoyed boating and fishing and had a passion for the sea. He had a great wit and loved to share his unique sense of humor. He also enjoyed listening to music from the "old country". He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Katharina Lukofnak in July 2003, a brother Franz Lukofnak in 1953 and grandson Michael Tintle in 2002. Richard is survived by his children, Richard Lukofnak II (Genevieve) of Rancho Cucamonga, Barbara Tintle (Denis) of Dana Point, and Kenneth Lukofnak of Covina; a sister, Barbara "Betty" Ladner of Salzburg, Austria; his grandchildre n, Sharina Keathley, Brandie Bray, Richard Lukofnak III; Kenneth Lukofnak Jr. and Keith Lukofnak; Katharina Lukofnak and Angelina Lukofnak; his great-grandchildren, Alexander Keathley, William Keathley and Christopher Keathley - who was born two hours before Richard's passing; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and friends on two continents. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2004, with a Rosary at 7 p.m., at Custer Christiansen Mortuary, Covina. The Funeral Mass will b e celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Covina. Internment will follow immediately after Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, Montebello. Custer Christiansen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
