M.B. Allen Died Suddenly After Years Illness.
Prominent in Affairs of County and Community for Long Period of Years.

Martin B. Allen, aged 80 years, died suddenly at his home at Five Points early last Saturday following a period of several months ill health.
The deceased was a member of one of Chambers County's most prominent families and during his life in the Five Points community he had been active in the affairs of that community as well as the political interest of the County. He had served as chairman and member of the County Board of Registrars for a number of years and had otherwise been identified with the County's affairs. He was a member of the Five Points Methodist Church and a member of its official family for many years.
Funeral services were held from the Five Points Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon with Rev. L. H. Spradley, pastor of the deceased being the officiating minister. J. E. Cutler, LaFayette, funeral director, was in charge of the funeral plus interment was in the Five Points Cemetery.
Surviving are a widow, Mrs. Viola Trammell Allen; three daughters, Mrs. H. T. Haygood, Atlanta; Mrs. Zachry Ramsey, LaFayette; and Miss Vela Allen, Five Points; two sons, J. D. and B. D. Allen, both of Five Points; three brothers, Y. T. Allen and L. M. Allen of Atlanta and Dan Allen of LaGrange, Ga.
Pallbearers were Roy Grady, Moran Grady, Howard Allen, Luther Allen, Olin Day and Idas Sands.
