Death of Mr. G. W. Allen, Pioneer Citizen Of Lanett
Mr. G. W. Allen, a respected resident of Lanett for thirty-one years past, died at his home on Saturday, June 18th, which was the eighty-first anniversary of his birthday, Mr. Allen had been a member of the Methodist Church for many years, and was also a member of the Improved Order of Redmen.
He is survived by his wife, seven daughters, Mrs. J. F. Lynch, of Opelika, Mrs. W. R. White, of Chipley, Mrs. C.A. Herring, Albany, Ga., Mrs. L. W. Rogers, West Point, Ga. Mrs. J. R. Hamby, Taft, Fla., Mrs. Dallas Burdette, Lanett and Mrs. J. L. West of Griffin, Ga., and five sons, Messrs. W. L. Allen, Birmingham, G. R J. D., W. F. and M. L. Allen, all of Lanett. Funeral services were held at the Lanett Methodist Church on Sunday at 2 P. M., by Rev. I. T. Carrlton and Rev. H. M. Gray, after which the body was interred at Lanett cemetery the same afternoon. All of his children were in attendance of his funeral.
