Mrs. Dorothy Katherine Hayes Wood, age 87, a longtime resident of the Rockdale Community, passed away Thursday, February 18, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wood conducted in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Jeff Waldrop officiating. Burial in the Arlington Cemetery.

Dorothy was born November 11, 1922 in Lewis County, TN and was the daughter of the late Leonard Jackson and Rena Holder Hayes.

She was the wife of Charlie Young Wood who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a homemaker and devoted grandmother. She was a retired seamstress at Weather Tamer and was a member of the Sandy Hook Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children: Ray (Anita) Wood of Valdosta, GA, Boyd (June) Wood of Columbia, Morris (Pat) Wood, Randy (Faye) Woods of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers: Earl Hayes of Mt. Pleasant and Dalton (Lillian) Hayes of Summertown; one sister: Marlene (Johnny) Kirk of Mt. Pleasant.; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a special son: Wade "Diamond" Wood, five brothers: William "Bozo" Hayes, Cleve Hayes, Vance Hayes, Buford Hayes and Claude Hayes, three sisters: Irene Gross, Lottie Douglas and Sue Pugh.

Pallbearers will be Chris Woods, Matt Hayes, Sydney "Brother" Thomason, Warren "Copperhead" Burks, Jerry "Cheese" Burks, Steven "JuJu" Boshers, Tim Chapman, Barry Hines, Jon Mullins, Paul Nichols, Roy Wayne Henson, Carter Duberry, Todd Duberry and Ricky "Catfish" Clawson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of Sandy Hook Church of Christ, Dr. J. Cummins Couch, special friends; Sara Dale, Debbie Chapman, Lucille Massey, Virginia Staggs, Katie York and Wilma Burks, staff of Maury Regional Medical Center; special nurse, Marlene Barnyard and staff of Care All Home Health Care
