Evelyn Chittum Smith, 67, of Buena Vista, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998 at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She was born August 27, 1931 in Buena Vista, daughter of the late Graham Chittum and Emma Beverly Chittum.

She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Mrs. Smith was retired from Painters Space Print.

She is survived by three daughters, Pam Evans, Debbie Hall, and Cheryl Crummitt, all of Buena Vista; two sons, Jerry Irvine of Lexington, and Steve Irvine of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Mary Gunter of Brunswick, Md., and Betty Stull of Martinsburg, WV; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Odell Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service
