Albert Antolik, 87, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, December 23, 2010, of heart failure, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Edward Durand III officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post #1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.
Al Antolik was born on October 24, 1923, in Eddyville, Iowa to George and Mary Antolik. He graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1942. Albert served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
In 1954, he was united in marriage to Marcia Jane Els. Their four children are George (Heidi) Antolik of Johnson, IA; Ann Antolik of Iowa City, IA; and two deceased children, John and Mary. Grandchildren are Jon and Sophie Antolik; step grandchildren are Tiffany and Cameron Tucker. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Kurth of Fort Dodge.
Al retired in 1984 from the Fort Dodge Fire Dept. after 39 years of service. He retired as an Assistant Fire Chief. Al loved going to church. He also enjoyed playing pitch and going to garage sales. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, playing baseball, fishing, and doing family activities. Al will be greatly missed by many.
