Coralee Worthen passed away peacefully at home in Boise surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 23.

She was born in Pocatello, Idaho on October 5, 1948, to Hubert M. and Leota Sorensen Dahlstrom. She spent every day of her life making the dash between her years, her time on earth, matter. She lived every moment, laughed every day, and loved unconditionally.

Coralee knew what made her heart sing, and her family was a dominant refrain of the song that she sang. She is the mother of four children: Nicci Casady Cleveland, Michael Dean Casady, Kristi Casady Henrickson, and Chelsi Casady Gunstream; and the stepmother of two, Joy Worthen and Jana Worthen. She has 16 grandchildren -- 11 grandsons and five granddaughters. In addition, she always had an array of animals that she showered her never ending love on. She left no part of her melody unsung.

Coralee's love of dogs was exceeded only by her love of her family and was known by all who knew her. She owned many dogs throughout her lifetime and sponsored several dogs at various shelters. She also supported local efforts to establish a no kill shelter here in Boise. She understood that making a difference in the lives of others is what the dash is all about. She enriched mankind and animals alike showing care and mercy, first to her family and then to others.

Another way Coralee chose to make a difference was through music. Her beautiful, soprano voice touched the hearts of not only her family but all who were fortunate enough to experience her song. She served in many capacities as a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, most involving music. She was also a longtime member of the women's choral group "Sounds" and sang with the Hymns of Thanksgiving choir for the past five years; this year's concert was her final singing performance here on earth.

Coralee chose positive over negative, smiles over frowns, giving over taking, and love over hate daily. She was a model of the strength of the human spirit. "I have learned to place a high estimate upon the love of mother. I have often said, and will repeat it, that the love of a true mother comes nearer being like the love of God than any other kind of love." Joseph F. Smith

Coralee is survived by her husband, J C Worthen; her parents: Hubert and Leota Dahlstrom; brothers: Gary (Elaine) Dahlstrom and Grant (Luci) Dahlstrom; sisters: LoRene (Paul) Sorenson and Luann (Ron) Andrews; her children: Nicci (Scott) Cleveland, Michael Dean (Kim) Casady, Kristi (Steve) Henrickson and Chelsi (Jeffrey) Gunstream; 11 grandsons and five granddaughters.

Coralee was preceded in death by her older brother, Mark Dahlstrom.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 29, 11:00 am, at the Hill Rd LDS chapel at Hill Rd and 27th, under the direction of Relyea Funeral Chapel. The family will visit with friends at the Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N Latah, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening, December 28.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation in Coralee's name to: Northwest Animal Companions, PO Box 6376, Boise, ID, 83707, or Idaho Humane Society at http://www.idahohumanesociety.org/page.cfm/donate/. or Best Friends Animal Society, https://www.bestfriends.org/donate/.
