He was a member of the Dayton Church of the Brethren and was active in the 4-H Club in his earlier years. He farmed all of his life.
His wife, Marjorie Stokes Acker, died Aug. 10, 1985. Mr. Acker is survived by two sons, Wayne; a stepdaughter; two brothers; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Acker was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Acker and John Acker, and a sister, Freida Acker Walker.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel, 3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg. The Rev. Marty Doss will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 at the Kyger Funeral Home 3173 Spotswood Trail in Harrisonburg.
