Bertha M. Jorgenson, 98, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at the Minnesota Veteran's Home of Fergus Falls.

She was born May 27, 1902, in Oscar Township of Otter Tail County, the seventh child of Ole and Gina (Kveseth) Aaberg. She grew up and attended country school in Oscar Township.

On Jan. 30, 1924, she married John Jorgenson at First Lutheran Church parsonage in Fergus Falls. The couple lived near Rothsay until 1936, when they moved to Fergus Falls. They were the parents of five children. In the early years, Mrs. Jorgenson worked at Runningen's Cafe. She later worked for Desoto's Produce until they closed. She also worked for several other businesses in her later years and enjoyed helping with daycare in area churches until she retired at age 83. She was one of the first to live at Riverview Heights in 1968, where she lived until February of 1997, when she entered the Pioneer Home. On May 26, 1998, she entered the Minnesota Veteran's Home. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Fergus Falls. She was also a member of the VFW Post 612 Auxiliary for more than 50 years and was a life member of the DAV Auxiliary Unit 25 and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 30 all of Fergus Falls.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John in February of 1968; her daughter, Berdelle in August of 1984; her son, Rodney in April of 1987; two daughter-in-laws; one infant grandson in 1945; six sisters, Clara Wigdahl, Olive Wigdahl, Cora Aaberg, Effie Olson, Olga Skalrud, Ella King; and one brother, Charles Jorgenson; and one granddaughter, Barbara Whitebear.

Survivors include three sons, Gene of Lowry, Gerald of Moorhead and David of Fergus Falls; a daughter-in-law, Agnes Jorgenson of Fergus Falls; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Tena Nelson and Tonetha (Elmer) Johnson of Fergus Falls, and Nora Halbakken of Seattle, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services at the church

Service: 2 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls

Burial: First Lutheran North Cemetery
