Albert Gardner "Jiggs" Kelley Obituary:

Jiggs Kelley was born on October 4, 1923 in Parks Camp,Texas an oilfield boom town, seven miles from Breckenridge, Texas. He was the 2nd. son of Lawrence Pike & Gracey Jewell (Johnson) Kelley. Jiggs along with his older brother Samuel and parents moved into Breckenridge in 1927.He was a graduate of Breckenridge High School and president of his FFA chapter and he boxed in the golden gloves fly weight division. After WWII ended he attended North Texas State Teacher's College.

Jiggs was a Veteran of World War II, First Class Machinist Mate, serving in the United States Navy on the Patrol Gun boat U.S.S. San Bernardino, on the Destroyer U.S.S. Allen, and on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Commencement Bay.

Jiggs married Bobbye Jean Bean, also from Breckenridge,in Cisco,Texas May of 1946.They shared 18 short years together, She preceded him in death in 1964 after a 3-year battle with breast cancer. She was the love of his life and the mother of there two sons. He later remarried Doris Wissbaum from Wichita Falls in 1967. She preceded him in death in 2004.

Jigg's became a Railroad Journeyman Carman after a 4 year apprenticeship with American Refrigerator Transit Company a subsidiary of the Missouri Pacific Rail Road in Pueblo, Colorado. He and Bobbye Jean moved to Wichita Falls in 1950 where he was a car inspector for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad for 32 years and retired in 1982. He was a member of the 1st Baptist church in Wichita Falls.

Services will be held at 11:a.m.Thursday,July 23,2009 at Melton Kitchens Funeral home in Breckenridge,Tx. Burial will be in Stephens County Cemetery.
Pastor~ Joe Wayne Kelley-(son), Pallbearers~ Ronnie Mike Kelley-(son) Samuel Wayne Kelley-(grandson)~ Jonathan Hoke Kelley-(grandson)~ James Nolan Kelley-(brother)~ Ronald Nelson Kelley-(nephew)~ Brian Paul Cooke-(granddaughter Hannah's ~ husband).

Survivors include His two sons Joe Wayne Kelley of Belton Texas and Ronnie Mike Kelley of Archer City,Texas.A sister Helen Price of Breckenridge,TX. A brother James Nolan Kelley of Abilene,Tx. Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
