LAMOREAUX, Myrtle Melba -
Myrtle Melba Riggs Lamoreaux, age 86 , passed away peacefully Saturday January 20, 2007 in Mesa, Arizona.
She was born in Gilbert, Arizona on September 28, 1920 to Benjamin Lang & Myrtle B (Noble) Riggs.
Melba was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years serving in the many organizations of the church. She served a full time mission at the age of 21 in the Northwestern States Mission, and then went on to serve four more missions at the Mesa Family History Center during the later years of her life. She and her husband Alvin also served in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Melba is survived by her six children: Nivla Hatch (Norece), Rex Lamoreaux (Cathi), Edwin Lamoreaux (Linda), Dave Lamoreaux (Donna) Metzie Phelps (Reed) and Shelli Bates; 18 grandsons and 18 granddaughters; and 68 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Colleen Harris and three sisters-in-law: Willetta Riggs, Irene Riggs and Vida Hatch.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Alvin C Lamoreaux; her son, Alvin Riggs Lamoreaux; and granddaughter, Sarah Ann Lamoreaux.
A viewing will be held on Thursday January 25, 2007 from 6:00-8:00PM at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald in Mesa.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 11:00AM with a viewing from 9:30-10:30AM at the Catalina Ward Building of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 S. Catalina St. Gilbert, AZ.
Interment will be at the City of Mesa Cemetery.
The family would like to express there sincere love and thanks to Steve and Sharon McRae of the Golden Age Care Home in Mesa. "We know our mother was loved and well cared for." In lieu of flowers please make the day better for someone else by smiling or giving a helping hand when needed as was her motto.
