Dorothy Passons was born on August 30, 1927 in Klondike, Texas to Robert Carl and Ella Robnett Hooten. When very young, they moved to Earth, Texas, where Dorothy attended Springlake School until 1943. They moved to Borger and she completed high school in 1945. After graduation, she married James L. Passons, in January, 1946. They had two daughters, Carla Rose and Waska Jolene who both were born in Borger. They moved to Newcastle, Wyoming in 1952 and both girls graduated from Newcastle High School. Dorothy started working for Mountain Bell Telephone, later transferring to Southwestern Bell in Amarillo, where she worked for 28½ years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and Sonshiners South Georgia Baptist group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survivors include her Husband of 64 years, James L. Passons, daughters Jolene Martinson of Amarillo and Carla Rose Evans of Nashville, TN, a sister, Sibyl Maxwell of Borger, Texas, 4 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.

Dorothy L. Passons AMARILLO - Funeral services for Dorothy L. Passons, 83, of Amarillo will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at South Georgia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Passons died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, in Amarillo. She was born Aug. 30, 1927, in Klondike to Robert Carl and Ella Robnett Hooten. When she was young they moved to Earth, Texas, and she attended Springlake School until 1943. They moved to Borger where she completed high school in 1945. After graduation she married James L. Passons in January 1946. They moved to Newcastle, Wyo., in 1952.
