Mrs. Eula Daniel Hopson, widow of the late William J. Hopson, died at her home near Canton at 2: 45 p.m. last Saturday, Dec. 28, 1946 after an illness covering a period of nearly ten months.
She was the daughter of Joshua and Elizabeth Cunninham Daniel, having been born to them at the Daniel home farm, west of Cadiz, March 7, 1877.
When quite young she entered the Cadiz School and after having finished there, continued her studies at Logan Female College in Russellville, Logan County, at that time one of the most outstanding colleges for your ladies in the South. Soon after finishing her course of studies at the institution she was married to W.J. Hopson and continued to reside at the W.J. Hopson home place until the time of her death. However she spent much of her time with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Anderson in Wilmington, N.C. where she was taken ill.
She united in early life with the Baptist Church and was during her life time, ever loyal and attentive to her Church duties and vows.
Since Mrs. Hopson's young girlhood she has been designated as one of the most lovable and attractive women of this community, always so gentle and kindly affectionate as to gain for herself many devoted friends.
Funeral services were held at the Wood-Fuqua-Davis Funeral Home in Hopkinsville last Sunday afternoon. Interment following in the East End Cemetery here on the W.J. Hopson lot. Rev. E.R. Noel and Rev. Shirley Spahr conducted the burial rites.
Those who acted as bearers of the casket were Ben W. Wright, James Tuggle, Josh Hopson, R.H. Upton, Jr., W.J. and Wintrop Hopson, her grandsons.
Surviving Mrs. Hopson are her two children, Mrs. Robert Anderson, Wilmington, N.C.; and Howell Hopson, Canton; also five grandchildren and one brother, William Daniel.
