Mrs. Horton was born July 18, 1925 in Edna, KS to Fred and Gladys (Rucker) Blevins.

She grew up near Edna, KS and attended school in Edna and Altamont. She also attended Coffeyville Junior College for one and a half years and later taught at Prairie Hall, a one-room school house near Angola, Kansas.

On June 29, 1947 she married Richard S. Horton and they lived in both Parsons and Independence. Mr. Horton was self-employed in his own plumbing business. He died June 10, 1996.

Mrs. Horton worked as a steno at Parsons State Hospital for seven years, Continental Can Company in Coffeyville, and later retired after 26 years as a service representative with the local Social Security office.

She was involved in the community, being an active member of the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church.
