OBITUARY FOR GLADYS MAE BLEVINS...

Gladys Mae Blevins, 93, of Altamont, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (July 8, 1989) in the Arkhaven Nursing Home.

Mrs. Blevins was born March 28, 1896, in Tampico, Ind., to Louis Marion and Flora Isabelle (Hancock) Rucker.

She taught at the Edna grade school from 1917 to 1920.

On January 27, 1920, she married James Fred Blevins in Marion County, Ind. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1964.

Mrs. Blevins was a member of the Valeda United Methodist Church, Leib HDU for 60 years, Happy Hour Sewing Club, Royal Neighbors and United Methodist Women.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris M. Horton of Independence, Arlene Landrith of Bartlett and Mary Lou Manley of Edna; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. A daughter, Virginia Carnahan preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Edna United Methodist Church with burial in the North Edna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 - 8 p.m. today at Bath Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials to the Valeda United Methodist Church or the Labette County 4-H Memorial Scholarship Fund.
