Golden Clarence (Doc) Hadley

Golden Clarence (Doc) Hadley, 1136 North Pine, Ponca City, Oklahoma, died at 10:50 Saturday evening in the St. Joseph Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born on February 8, 1899 in Arkansas City to Franklin P. & Iona May Hadley. He attended the Arkansas City schools and as a young man worked in a shoe store in Arkansas City.

In 1919 he moved to Burbank, California, returning to Ponca City in 1923 to work for the Marland Oil Co. He later returned to Arkansas City and was employed by the Sanderson Shoe Store.

He married Louise Atkin on July 18, 1936 in Arkansas City and they made their home in Arkansas City.

He owned and operated a car agency, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1946 and in 1948 he returned to Ponca City and worked for various car dealers in Ponca City. he also sold cars on his own and retired in 1964.

He was a member of the United Brethren Church in Arkansas City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Louise, of the home; 1 son, Wayne & Kathleen Hadley, North Tonawanda, New York, 6 sisters; Mrs. William (Lillian) McFee and Mrs. Melvin (Vera) Yardley, both of Arkansas City; Mrs. F. E. (Sylvia) McCartney, Denver, Denver County, Colorado; Mrs. A. M. (Ferne) Cowart, Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico; Mrs. George (Gladys) Sigler, Ponca City, Oklahoma; Mrs. L. D. (Verna) Haskins, Blackwell, Kay County, Oklahoma; 1 grandson, Erik, North Tonawanda, New York.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, in the Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City. The casket will not be open at the services but friends may call at the Grace Memorial Chapel until noon Tuesday.

A memorial has been established in his name to the Sierra Club Foundation, 530 Bush St., San Francisco, California 94108.

The family will be at the family home, 1036 North Pine, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
