Kaw Valley -- Mrs. J.W. Hargrave died at Leavenworth, Kansas Feb. 22nd of hemorrhage of the stomach. Her funeral was held at Kaw Valley M.E. church, Thursday, Feb. 25th, interment was at Greenwood cemetery. A son, Alvin F. Hargrave of Western Springs, Ill. was present, one daughter and family, Mrs. Chas. E. Weeks.
Charlotte Erskine was born in Vanderburgh county, Ind. Jan. 30, 1843. Was married to John W. Hargrave, April 7, 1869. To this union were born seven children, two of whom died in infancy. Those surviving are Richard of Jacksonville, Fla.; Wm. of Atchee, Colo.; Albion F. of Western Springs, Ill; Mrs. Mary Erskine of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Mrs. Chas. E. Weeks of Belvue, Kan. The aged husband of her youth has only recently gone to the National Military Home at Leavenworth, to make his home.
Charlotte Erskine united with the M.E. church when about fourteen years of age of which she has been a consistent member ever since.
