The Cadiz Record obit posted 23 Oct 1947 reads as follows:

MRS. EMMA RICKS SUCCUMBS WED.
----
PASSES AT MAGRAW CLINIC FOLLOWING SIX MONTH COMFINEMENT
----
At eleven o'clock Wednesday morning after a struggle against illness for 18 months. Mrs. Emma Cunningham Ricks was claimed by death.

She was born February 25, 1894, in Trigg County and was the daughter of Alec Cunningham and Susie Robertson Cunningham.

In early girlhood she was united in marriage to Marcellus Ricks in 1911, and they began their married life on a farm in the Oak Grove neighborhood. Mr. Ricks died about 12 years ago leaving his widow and four children who were born to this union, Mrs. Herbert Gray, a daughter, and three sons; Terry, Robert Blane, of Evansville, Ind., and Marvellus Ricks of Rockford, Ill., all of whom survive her.

At the age of sixteen years the deceased was united with the Baptist Church on Lower Donaldson Creek, and the true Christian spirit of which she possessed helped her to endure the period of immense suffering. Her friendly and thoughtful manner as well as her helpfulness to others endeared her to the people of the community and made for her a number of good friends.

Most of the months of her illness were spent in Jennie Stuart Hospital and in Dr. Magraw's Clinic, where her death took place.

Funeral services are being conducted this afternoon by the Rev. Shirley Spahr pastor of the Cadiz Baptist Church at her home at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will follow at East End Cemetery.

Besides her children and several grandchildren Mrs. Ricks is survived by four sisters, Mrs. J.F. Gentry, Mrs. Earl Clark, Mrs. John Bridges, and Mrs. Janey Calhoun, three brothers; Harvey, Albert and Josh Cunningham.

Pallbearers are to be: Albert, Josh, T.T. and A.B. Cunningham, Sam Baker and Lexie Baker.
