Obituary:
Isamu "Sam" Watanuki, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Oct. 27, 1997 at LDS Hospital of cancer at the age of 82.
Sam was born February 11, 1915 to Walter and Mume Watanuki in Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Tomoko L(Mas) Yano.
Former president of Salt Lake Japanese American Citizens League and former owner and operator of Spotless Cleaners.
Married Masae Serizawa in January 1970.
Sam is survived by his wife; two children, Tom (Jane) Watanuki, and Robert (Brenda) Watanuki; sister Reiko (John) Imada; and brother, Max (Hobby) Watanuki; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Nurse Cara L MIckelsen and Dr. William Reilly of the Salt Lake Clinic and Nurse Helen Rollins and the staff at LDS Hospital.
Viewing at 12 noon Friday, Oct 31, 1997, with funeral immediately thereafter at the Salt Lake Buddhist Church, 211 W. 100 So. Interment immediately follows at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Directors, Deseret Memorial Mortuary.
