MARIE BATTAGLIA WRIGHT, a native Houstonian, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010. She was born November 3, 1915, to Josephine Palermo and Frank Battaglia. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Willis E. Wright; her parents Frank and Josephine Battaglia; her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gianukos; brothers, Paul J. Battaglia and Anthony F. Battaglia; sister-in-laws, Blossom Battaglia and Agnes Battaglia; and nephew Paul Battaglia.She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church since 1956 the Altar Society and St. Anne's Guild. Marie was also a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America, Court-Our Lady of Victory 234, the Tapawingo Club, as well as the Charity Guild of St. Joseph and the Italian-American Federation. She wrote a column for the La Volce paper entitled "Remember When" and was, at one time, a social reporter for the La Tribuna newspaper out of Dallas. She was founding member of the coordinator of the " Singing Belle's" of St. Dominic.Marie leaves behind cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Shaw and John Gianukos, nephew Frank J. Battaglia and niece Margaret Battaglia-Garza, great nieces, Lisa Marie Battaglia and Talia Alyssa Garza.Her niece Margaret would like to thank the staff of Hearthstone @Cy-Fair and Compassionate Care for their loving support and care of her aunt. May God Bless our Aunt "Re".Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Rd. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
